Available on a variety of Antarctica expeditions, the 'Fly & Sail' experience allows for one sea leg, appealing to those who would prefer to spend more time exploring, and less time sailing.
Flying to Antarctica Peninsula
Travel time to the Antarctic Peninsula is cut by at least a day when you fly from Punta Arenas, Chile to King George Island in the Southern Shetland Islands on the Peninsula's northern tip, and sail back. On arrival to King George Island, you will be transferred to board your first Zodiac cruise to the ship to settle in. From here, your voyage commences, sailing along the eastern part of the peninsula amongst pristine polar landscapes filled with bustling wildlife, moving hisotry and majestic icebergs! At the end of your voyage, you will sail back across the Drake Passage to end your journey to Ushuaia, Argentina.
Alternatively, you can also choose to sail across the Drake Passage to the peninsula from Ushuaia, Argentina. You will then embark on King George Island to board your chartered flight to Punta Arenas, Chile (available on certain departures only).
Flying to the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas)
For our South Georgia itineraries you can choose to fly in from Santiago or Punta Arenas, Chile to board the ship in the Falkland Islands' capital, Stanley, and finish by sailing to Ushuaia, Argentina.
Alternatively, you can sail from Ushuaia, Argentina and finish with a flight back to Santiago or Punta Arenas, Chile from Stanley, Falkland Islands.
This option cuts out two days sailing between Stanley and Ushuaia.
