We are proud to launch this new voyage, designed by women, led by women, for women. Travelling to Antarctica will open the door to new experiences, perhaps new challenges, and with the Aurora-style of travel, new friendships too.
Late summer is a great time to visit Antarctica, with active wildlife, melting ice, and generally good weather. Skuas, terns and a suite of petrels wheel against a backdrop of spectacular sunsets, as the days shorten, and winter gradually approaches.
This expedition is crafted for adventurous women who share a passion for exploration and a desire to connect with like-minded travellers. Aboard Sylvia Earle, you’ll find a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to forge friendships and create lasting bonds.
Highlights
- Observe the wildlife of Antarctica, with penguin chicks developing their adult plumage and learning to swim, leopard seals and orcas patrolling the waters, and increasing numbers of whales preparing for migration
- Enjoy a range of excursion options for all levels and interests, from leisurely walks to strenuous hikes, Zodiac cruises and additional water-based activities, such as kayaking
- Soar over the Drake Passage, with our charter flights between Chile and Antarctica
- Celebrate women in conservation on board our Sylvia Earle expedition ship, with fellow female travellers
Itinerary
Arrive in Punta Arenas and transfer to your hotel.
Fly Punta Arenas to King George Island. Embark at King Georgie Island.
Immerse yourself in the unforgettable landscapes of the white continent. In this great wilderness, nature sets our pace. Changing weather and ice conditions make every trip truly unique. Cruise by spectacular ice cliffs and observe seals on the ice, whales in their southern feeding grounds and visit bustling penguin rookeries. Discover historical sites and other intriguing relics scattered across the Antarctic Peninsula.
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
During the early morning, we cruise up the Beagle Channel, before quietly slipping into dock in Ushuaia, where we will be free to disembark around 8.00 am. Farewell your expedition team and fellow passengers as we all continue our onward journeys, hopefully with a newfound sense of the immense power of nature.
Upon disembarkation, for those continuing their travels in the region, transportation to the hotel will be arranged exclusively for guests who have booked their accommodations through Aurora or for those staying in downtown areas near the port. Expeditioners departing on flights prior to 12:30 pm will be directly transferred to Ushuaia Airport, those with flights after 12:30 pm will have the opportunity to explore Ushuaia before an afternoon airport transfer, and the transfer procedures and details will be communicated onboard before disembarkation.
Note: At the conclusion of the voyage, we do not recommend booking flights departing Ushuaia prior to 12.00 pm on the day of disembarkation in case there are delays.
In the spirit of expedition travel, we encourage you to adopt a flexible and adventurous attitude when joining our voyages. This itinerary is a guide only and is subject to change due to weather, sea state and other conditions beyond our control.
