Health, Fitness & Age Limits

Aurora Expeditions voyages attract a wide range of travellers and age groups, however what you personally would like to achieve on an expedition is up to you.

While you don’t need to be able to run a marathon, our expeditions to the Arctic do offer lots of great landings and walking opportunities. To make the most out of our landings we do recommend that you are reasonably fit and healthy, however we always offer slower group options for those who are after a more relaxed pace.

For those who are less able, there are also plenty of great opportunities to view the Arctic landscapes from the ship, and you have the choice whether you would like to go ashore or not. Our team is always on hand to help you make the most of your trip and to assist you ashore wherever possible.

You should be confident on your feet to allow you to walk up and down the ships gangway (equivalent to a steep set of stairs), get in and out of a Zodiac, and walk across wet, snowy and/or rocky terrain.

If you are still in doubt, our Expedition Experts are happy to assist in helping you decide if an Arctic adventure is for you.

Age Limits

The minimum age for children on our voyages is 14. Any person under 18 years of age must travel with their legal guardian.

Conversely, we have welcomed young-hearted 90 year olds onboard! As long as you are ready for some adventure and exploration and have a sufficient level of fitness, you’re welcome to jump aboard our Arctic expeditions. travellers onboard up to age 92.
