Today on National Dolphin Day, we're spotlighting our favourite dolphin: the hourglass dolphin. Want to know how to tell the difference between an hourglass dolphin and an orca?

Hourglass dolphins are small oceanic dolphins that weigh around 110 kg. They have striking black and white markings on their bodies that take an hourglass shape, and are predominantly found in remote Antarctic and sub-Antarctic waters.

In contrast, orcas can reach sizes up to 4,000 kg and inhabit a wide range of ocean environments, from cold polar regions like Antarctica and Norway to tropical and subtropical waters.

Now you will be able to distinguish between them if you're lucky enough to spot either on your next expedition!
