Aurora Partnership Program
For many years Aurora Expeditions has worked closely with a select group of expedition companies; those that are closely aligned with the philosophies we hold dear – small groups, big adventures, fantastic itineraries and responsible travel.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for Aurora Expeditions to operate in every destination we would like, we have identified the experts in these regions with whom we have a trusted relationship; thus extending the arms of the Aurora Fold.
The Aurora Partnership Program outlines the experts that we have a long-standing relationship with, whom we continue to work with to offer you trips that embody everything you love about expedition travel to the remote coastlines and regions of our planet.
By formalising the relationship with these travel partners, we can provide new dimensions to our program whilst maintaining a strong synergy with our own fantastic expeditions. By choosing to travel with a company from The Aurora Partnership Program, we are confident you will experience a voyage that meets the expectations of the truly adventurous, whilst maintaining the high standards we expect.
Coral Princess Cruises
For 14 years we have partnered with our friends at Coral Princess Cruises, operating their vessel Coral Princess in the Kimberley region since 1988 and latterly Oceanic Discoverer in PNG. Privately owned by Tony Briggs, the eco-certified company supports the concept of nature based cruising with a commitment to the provision of a first class, soft adventure; providing a truly Australian environmental experience.
Having pioneered Great Barrier Reef cruising in 1984 with a converted World War II Submarine Chaser carrying 24 passengers, Tony commissioned the build of Coral Princess in 1988, followed by the Coral Princess II in 1996.
Their expedition-style cruise ships are large enough to provide all the comforts and facilities you would expect of larger cruise ships, yet small enough to enable us to access reef and island sites inaccessible to other vessels. With an open bridge policy and small passenger numbers, guests are able to participate in an environmental experience, which is both personal and memorable.
The product is offered in such a way as to allow passengers the options of virtually complete immersion in an eco-tourism adventure through to basic relaxed shipboard life.
Whilst our partners at Coral Princess will continue to operate our Kimberley Coast programme, we are also delighted to announce NEW itineraries aboard Oceanic Discoverer in PNG and a fantastic NEW Arnhem Land Voyage – Click here for more details.
Established in 1985, Heritage is a New Zealand based company operating expeditions to the Russian Far East. Its founder Rodney Russ was a biologist working for the New Zealand Wildlife Service, when he formed the company as a way of increasing awareness and conservation of the natural world through responsible expedition travel. Through his work on Kakapo, Black Robin and other endangered bird species he appreciated that rather than locking wilderness areas away, it was important to share them with people so that they might become "ambassadors" advocating and supporting conservation efforts. He has long held the view that conservation and responsible travel are partners, that together can achieve what might otherwise be unachievable.
From those small beginnings the company, which is still family owned, operates its own Polar Research Vessel, Spirit of Enderby (Sister Ship to Polar Pioneer) on expeditions to the Russian Far East. Each expedition is meticulously planned and led ensuring that passengers (maximum of 50) maximize every opportunity they have to learn and experience as much as possible about the region, while at the same time minimizing the impact of their visit. With nearly 10 years’ experience in the Russian Far East exploring initially unchartered waters, Heritage are the ideal choice to take you to this stunning region in 2013. In 1991, Lars Wikander and Mike McDowell were two adventurers hankering to visit the North Pole. At the time, it was one of the few places they had never been. Once there, they were awestruck by the beauty and majesty of one of the last unspoiled places on earth.
That first expedition inspired the pair to make polar travel the focus of their business. They also resolved to build a company committed to environmentally responsible travel, and a community of guests who would become advocates and ambassadors for the Polar Regions.
From this foundation rose Quark Expeditions. In May, 2007, Quark Expeditions became part of the UK-based TUI Travel PLC Group of Companies with a strong fleet of vessels ideal for exploration of the Russian Arctic.
With over 10 years experience working alongside Quark, we are delighted to offer a Russian Arctic voyage ‘The Ultimate Arctic Adventure’ aboard 50 Years of Victory for 2013 - Click here for more details.
