Aurora Expeditions holds a number of competitions throughout the year. Please see below for our current competitions.

Photography Competition

We enjoy running photography competitions, as we get to experience all the magical moments of our passengers’ adventures. The photography competitions are open to our passengers who have travelled on an Aurora Expeditions voyage this past season. Please read the terms and conditions at the bottom of this page carefully before entering.

Share your magical Antarctic moments and WIN! - Closes 30 June 2012

Open to Aurora Expeditions passengers who travelled during the 2011/12 Antarctic and East Antarctic season only.

Share the wonders of your Aurora Expeditions’ Antarctic experience by entering our 2011/12 Antarctic Photography Competition and be in with the chance to WIN AU$1000 worth of photography vouchers!

Icebergs at dusk, awe-inspiring landscapes, playful wildlife, or people simply having fun; Antarctica is a place of unforgettable beauty. 

You don’t have to be a pro to take an amazing photograph in Antarctica, you just need a keen eye and an adventurous spirit! 

We encourage all our passengers to share their favourite photos for the opportunity to win. The winning photograph will also be showcased in the Aurora Expeditions’ 2013/14 Antarctica brochure. 

How does it work? 

Image submissions will be judged by our esteemed panel of judges, led by renowned wildlife photographer, Mark Jones. Mark’s images have appeared in major nature-orientated magazines in over two dozen countries, a selection of highly acclaimed photography books, and featured in the UK’s prestigious ‘Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ competition. 

To enter, simply email your favourite five photos to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or send up to five photos by CD to the Aurora Expeditions office in Sydney by 30 June 2012. Don't forget to include the image location and an image title.

The winning image will be published in our 2013/14 Antarctica brochure, the Expeditioner newsletter and on the Aurora Expeditions website. A selection of the best entries will also be displayed on the Aurora Expeditions website and facebook pages.

The European Arctic is a place of unforgettable beauty - mysterious fossil-rich landscapes, gigantic sculpted bergs, seals and whales in pack ice and it is also the kingdom of the mighty polar bear!

You don’t have to be a pro to take an amazing photograph in the European Arctic, you just need a keen eye and an adventurous spirit!

We encourage all our passengers to share your favourite photos for the opportunity to WIN and to have your image showcased in Aurora Expeditions 2013 European Arctic brochure.

How does it work?

Image submissions will be judged by our esteemed panel of judges, led by renowned photographer, Cherry Alexander. Cherry was named ‘BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ in 1995, and this year marks Cherry’s 40th year of photographing in the Arctic!

The winning image will be published in our 2013 European Arctic brochure, the Expeditioner newsletter and on the Aurora Expeditions website and facebook page. The top office favourites will also be showcased on our Aurora Expeditions website and facebook page.

The winner will be notified by email and published on our website in November 2011.

Share the wonders of your Aurora Expeditions’ Russia experience by entering our 2011 Russian Coast Photography Competition and be in with the chance to WIN AU$1000 worth of photography vouchers!

Russia is a place of unforgettable beauty - mysterious fossil-rich landscapes, gigantic sculpted bergs, seals and whales in pack ice and it is also the kingdom of the mighty polar bear!

A talented photographer, Darren has photographed extensively around the world and has been named Canon/AIPP ‘Australian Science, Environment and Nature Photographer of the Year’ in 2007, 2009 and again in 2010.

Terms and Conditions

Entry Details: By entering your images into any Aurora Expeditions’ Photography Competitions, you agree to the following conditions: All entries must have been taken on the relevant Aurora Expeditions’ voyages in 2011, by the entrant. No images supplied in hard copy will be accepted; only high-resolution digital files will be accepted. Please send the highest resolution version of your image as possible. Acceptable entries will be from either digital cameras or electronic scans supplied on CD or email. All entries must be correctly labelled with your name, contact details and the location each image was taken in. Entries will not be returned. While we endeavour to publish as many photo competition entries as possible in our brochures, we cannot guarantee that all will make the pages. A maximum of five (5) entries per person will be accepted for the competition. While the photographer retains the copyright of all images submitted as competition entries, Aurora Expeditions Pty Ltd reserves the right to unlimited use of the photos for company brochures, promotion and advertising.  Prize Conditions: The prize is for AUD$1000 worth of photography vouchers. Aurora Expeditions will purchase the vouchers from our preferred retailer. The prize is not transferable and is not redeemable for cash or exchange. Aurora Expeditions will issue copies of all receipts. Aurora Expeditions is not responsible for any issues you may have with the goods bought. Once vouchers are used, all responsibilities lie with the prize winner. Prize redemption must be made directly with Aurora Expeditions. The prize featured cannot be combined with any other promotional offer. The competition is not open to employees of Aurora Expeditions or their appointed agents or families. There is no cash or other alternatives to the prizes stated. The promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with a prize of similar value at its own discretion. Aurora Expeditions’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to. We reserve the right to publish the winner’s name and any runners up names on our website. Entrants in any Aurora Expeditions’ Photography Competition must be 18 years old or over.
